Lets get the only bad news of the weekend  out of the way..Yes Blues were relegated thank you to the Arsenal and "other" Birmingham  Team supporters for their messages.

The weekend started with a number of the swimmers who had qualified for Midlands District attending a long course training session at Coventry.Well done to Harry,Tazmin,Joseph, Alison and Tyler for  giving up the bellboating to attend.

The Bellboating was a great success.Junior, Senior and Parents all had teams competing.. All won trophies , we definately do need a trophy cabinet, or Steve will have to move to a bigger house!

There were some excellent races with the seniors only just beating the junior team..The junior team were also paddling with the handicap of two parents in their boat, but they managed to overcome the handicap and really give the seniors a race. Well done to Steve Vizard and Nick Jones the parents brave enough to go into the juniors boat.

The parents also performed well, many first  timers taking to paddling like a duck to water . Mums were excellent, dads timing left alot to be desired.

From where i was standing, i could see many of our crew members looking very wet but having a good time. Well done to everyone and a big thanks to Andy Train from Fladbury Bellboating for the invite.

Hopefully if we are invited back next year, we can enter a enter a few more teams.

Saturday evening saw the largest number of   PSC swimmers participating in a trial run of the PGL gala at Droitwich.

The PGL is league which  gives 9-14yr swimmers the opportunity to swim in a competitive gala . It was great to see so many swimmers taking part.

For some of the swimmers it was their first time in a gala.

Grace G was one of these but showed absolutely no nerves and won her race. What was even more pleasing was Grace had by far and away the best start of the evening. Her backstroke streamline and distance she achieved at speed under water was excellent. Grace showed what an advantage you can get if you get the starts right.Well done Grace!!

There were many other good swims Angus Evans and Ashley Gribble ( nice haircut Ash) both swimmers who have limited gala opportunities swam well Ashley getting a speeding ticket for 50m backstroke.

The younger swimmers proved their worth winning their relay races. Daisey, Will, Olivia  and Simon won the mixed 9  yr relay. Tom B won the 9yr 25m free and Makenzie won 10yr 25m fly.

Senior swimmers also performed well , i think Jose D is now turning into a breaststroker. Gooner first place in a breaststroke race. Well done Jose!

This was a gala about swimmers having the opportunity to swim events they may not have swam previously, it was also a gala that continued to improve team building. These galas are not about individuals,  they are about PSC swimming team. It was good to see so many promising swims.Hopefully swimmers will have life long memories of being at PSC.

Although  PSC guests at this gala, hopefully next year we will enter the league, i could not resist adding the scores up if we had been included .

Well done everyone , thanks to all poolside helpers AND parents for your support.

Tom

An inexperienced PSC side would have finished 2 points behind winners Cheltenham.
