Pershore Swimmers in fine form.

 

 

With a handful of Pershore Swimmers being invited to swim in their neighbouring Worcester Swimming clubs annual championships it was their opportunity to shine and hopefully impress the Worcester selectors enough to swim alongside their friends in league matches in the next twelve months.

 

With the first two of seven sessions completed ten year old Tazmin Pugh has shown why she is looking at securing Midland District Qualifying times and even dreaming early in the season of National times.  With an 18 second improvement coming from her 400m Individual Medley to record 5.58.49 she heads the ten year old club champs listings together with top placings in all the events she has competed in being the 100m fly (1.26.53); 200m back (2.50.62); 200m breast (3.26.18); 100m free (1.12.13); 50m fly (36.76); 50m free (33.76);  & 100m free and lying 8th overall in the FINA pts ranking (taking the best result from each of the five disciplines) with 1516 from the 75 female competitors through all the age ranges.

 

Lizzie Vizard (aged 12) has also had good results coming 6th with 35.74 in the 50m free; 8th in the 200m back 3.09.99; 200m breast 3.29.20; 50m fly (49.42); 100m free (1.24.37) lying 30th in the FINA pts with 825.  Meanwhile club mate Alison Seward (aged 11) secured a top place in the 200m back with a personal best time of 3.01.63; and 4th in both the 50m fly (43.45); and 50m free ( 36.19) and is in 48th place in the FINA pts with 594.  Katie Sharratt (12) competed in the 200m back coming 5th with a time of 3.03.56 and 100m free with 1.24.37.

 

Harry Sykes is heading the twelve year old boys in all the events he has competed in  being the 400m Individual Medley (6.03.29); the 50m free (31.06)  the 200m back (3.04.00), the 50m fly (36.45) and again in the 100m free with 1.09.98.   He is presently  lying 15th  from the 47 male competitors in the FINA pts ranking with 1192. 

 

Joseph Doyle  (11) came 2nd in the 50m free 35.58;  2nd in the 200m free with 3.11.48;  2nd in the 50m fly 41.26;  100m free 1.20.49; lying in 25th place in the FINA pts with 576pts.  Jack Betteridge (10) was also 2nd in the  50m free 38.98, 1st in the 100m fly 1.47.63;  2nd in the 50m fly 47.61; 100m free 1.26.88; in 36th in FINA pts with 302pts.  Still only nine but having to compete in the ten year division due the finishing date Tyler Mclean swam in the 50m fly coming in 1st and recording 46.88;
