Pershore Swimmers celebrate their biggest Club Presentations

Pershore Swimming have just celebrated their biggest ever club presentations with nearly 80 swimmers competing in their Summer and Winter club championships in 2011. Members enjoyed an afternoon of ten pin bowling followed by a meal and finished off with the presentation of the silverware, medals and certificates.

 

For the under 9 boys and girls results coming from the 25m events William Gearey took the honours with 670 FINA pts (FPT) scored followed by Sam Doyle on 585 and in 3rd place Luke Betteridge on 353. For the girls Charlotte Downey took home the replica trophy with 637 FPT with Hannah Woodcock only 4 FPT's behind on 633 and Megan Annis in 3rd with 469.

 

Placings were decided by the accumulated FINA pts by taking the best 50m sprint, best 100m distance, best Individual Medley, best of the 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle and best 200m back, breast or fly distance. It came as no surprise who won the 9 yr boys title with the club's latest star of the recent County Champs, Simon Sweatman, coming out on top with 952 scored whilst Chris Vizard took 2ndon 763 and Tom Bailey 3rd on 503. In the boys 10 yr age group Josh Sharratt totalled up 591 FPTs, whilst for the 11 yr Jack Betteridge set 997 followed by Owen Leeks on 886 closely followed by Callum Sanderson on 879.

 

The 12 yr boys were led home by Drew Jones on 1390 with Joeph Doyle on 1204 and Michael Evans 1103. The two local Tetrathlon stars took the 13 yr boy's title with Harry Sykes on 1390 and also Top Boy overall and Toby Alliband 729. In the final grouping the 14 + James Gribble who also trains now with the England Karate squad won through with 1808 whilst Angus Jones came 2nd on 1526 and Prince Henry sixth form pupil Xander Jaques on 1183.

 

For the girl's 9 yr age group Naomi Marsden took home the trophy with 834 scored ahead of Isabella Woodcock unable to record a 200m time on 727 and Isobel Cumming 3rd on 628. For the 10 yr age group Makenzie Christys won with 1142 followed by Hannah Simister on 791 and Daisy Tolley 724.

 

Tazmin Pugh led the 11 yr group home with 2411 scored and Top Girl overall followed by Jasmine Taite on 992 and Louise Hird only able to record the 50m sprint and 100m distances totalled up 331 FPT's. In the 13 age Alison Seward who has now left for pastures new scored 1841 with Ella Spencer 2nd on 1506 and Laura Snape on 1349. Lizzie Vizard took the 13 yr title with 1959 with Katie Sharratt 1670 and Danielle Whitehill on 796. In the final grouping the 14 + Ashley Gribble took the honours with 1850 scored followed by Helen Annis 1712 and Megan Tolley 1120.

 

It was a most successful day with thanks going to organisers Chairman and Vice-Chair Steve Vizard and Sarah Snape who in turn thanked the head coach Tom Naughton and his staff and for presenting the glorious array of new trophies and medals for the year.
