Pershore Swimmers in the pool again.

Once again five of Pershore Swimming club have been in action this time in Wolverhampton representing Worcsester Club in the 2nd leg of the Nuneaton and District Diddy League. Worcester were hoping to better their 4th place from the 1st leg to help secure their division one standing.

First of the Pershore swimmers to compete was Harry Sykes in the Breaststoke leg of the 11/u Medley Relay helping secure 1st place for the team. It was the same story in the Freestyle relay when Harry completed his leg in fine form with a personal best 25m time of 16.51 secs. Later on Harry was in action in the Individual 50m Breaststroke finishing a split second behind in 2nd place.

With ages taken on the last day of competition in September Alison Seward was competing for the Worcester 10 year old girls. In her first race though Alsion had to swim in the 11/u category due to some last minute absentees in the Freestyle Relay with an individual and outstanding pb time of 17.93 an improvement of over 4 seconds. In the girls 10/u Medley Relay where each swimmer has to swim a different stroke Alison went in the third leg in the Butterfly and again recorded yet another pb of 19.97 and helped Worcester record valuable 2nd place points. In the Individual Butterfly event Alison recorded 20.07 finishing in 4th place. Alison was involved in another exciting finish in the 8 x Freestyle relay, again coming home in 2nd place.

Half way through the evening's competition the other trio of Pershore swimmers had helped Worcester to pull well ahead in first place overall position. These were the nine year olds made up of Jack Betteridge, Joseph Doyle and Tazmin Pugh. In the boys 4 x Medley Relay Joseph swam the start off leg with the 25m Backstroke with a pb of 22.60 handing over to club mate Jack who swam his Breaststroke leg with 26.56 helping Worcester Club secure 2nd place for the event.

The boys were in action again in the boys 9yr Freestyle Joseph recording 19.40 and Jack 18.63 another two superb pb's the team finishing in 3rd place. Jack was also involved in the 8 x Freestyle Relay helping the team to 3rd place whilst Joseph was competing in the Individual 25m Backstroke even improving on his earlier time with 22.06 taking 3rd place.

Tazmin Pugh was in action in five events for nine yr old girls with 1st places in the all the three relays and two Individual events. Her Butterfly leg in the first Medley Relay of with a new pb of 17.29 got her team to a great start with a first place. This was repeated in the Freestyle Relay the team recording a superb 1min 16.49 secs. For the next event Tazmin was competing in the Individual 25m Butterfly. She won convincingly with a recording 17.82. In the Indidual 25m Backstroke her time of 19.69 helped her to 1st place again and yet another pb. With just one event to go it was clear Worcester could only win the whole leg if they could secure 1st place and hope that Wolverhampton finished down the pool in 4th place or less. With a lead off time of 16.80 for the 8 x Freestyle Relay Tazmin gave her team mates a good lead and secured her last pb of the evening. The other Worcester girls went on to record that valuable 1st place but could do nothing to stop their rivals coming home in 2nd place and winning overal by just 3 points.

Nevertheless Worcester could be justifiable proud of their finishing position helped just a little by the five young swimmers from Pershore.
