Pershore take first County Medal of the year

Pugh Wind first Gold of Champs.
Sunday marked the first of this year's events of the Worcester and Hereford County Swimming championships. Being allowed to swim in the long distance events for the first time Tazmin Pugh of Pershore Swimming Club set about the 32 lengths of the 800m freestyle with a determined look in her eye if not a llittle trepidation as it was only the second time she had ever swum the distance in compeition.
The first 50m she set 34.22 secs followed and quickly settled into an average of 39 seconds for the other 50m and finishing with a 36.80 recording 10:29.49. This was a new personal best for Pugh and became the first gold medal to be awarded at this year's Championships resulting in Pugh lying in 2nd place in the short course

In a close fought contest with the lead changing throughout between Stourbridge "A" and Worcester "A" eventually Worcester took the victory on the night by just 6 pts recording 204 with Haden Hill coming home in 4th place with 148 pts.
