Tazmin stars at Hereford Pool.

In a recent Open Meet at Hereford Swimming Club, Tazmin Pugh the 9 year old star of Pershore Swimming Club continued to excel in her rich vein of form. Starting with a win in the 200m butterfly in a time of 3min27.81 with Pugh setting the pace throughout.

This superb swim was followed by the 200m freestyle event with Pugh setting a new personal best time (pb) of 2min44.81 pushing her back up to 4th place in the UK for 9 year old girls. A third gold medal came in the 50m back, followed by a silver in her weaker 50m breaststroke event. Pugh's final medal of the day was once again gold in colour with a comfortable win in the 200m back.

On the second day of the weekend Pugh once again had to settle for silver in the 200m breaststroke. This was followed by the gruelling 400m Individual Medley (IM) covering 16 lengths of the pool. Pugh proved her worth with yet another pb with a time of 6m44.94 cementing her 3rd place in the UK in this event.

In the 50m free Pugh swam another comfortable sub 34 seconds recorded her 6th gold of the meet. Pugh's penultimate event was the 50m fly and even though 2 seconds down on her pb led the way home once again taking her seventh gold medal of the meet. With the weekend taking its toll Pugh had to dig deep to muster yet another win this time in the 200m IM and yet still clear of her nearest competitor by over 15 seconds.

With eight golds and two silvers from ten events it meant Pugh was rewarded with the 'top 9 year old girl' trophy with a tally of 58 pts her nearest rival Ellie Westoby from Hereford Club recording 41pts. With 9 year olds not allowed to swim in five of the events on the programme Tazmin Pugh was especially pleased to know she was still 3rd top girl overall from more than 80 girls of all ages who were competing finishing behind 14 year old Bethan Tomlinson from Southwold 69 pts and 15 year old Isabella Fox from Hereford on 59 pts. It was the most superb if not the most tiring achievement yet for Pershore's 9 year old Tazmin Pugh.
