Pershore Trials breaks Records.

Pershore Swimming Club recently held their most successful Winter Time Trials to date recording over 350 personal bests (pbs) ranging from their youngest swimmers of aged six upwards of 30.

For the youngsters of under 10 William Gearey, Josh Sharratt, Harry Johnson, Ben Clarke; Alfie Simpson; Isaac Stephens; James Bower; Chris Vizard, Ollie Gill, Sammy Whitehill, Jonah Barker; William Clarke; Luke Betteridge; Aiden Budd; Callum Sanderson; Sam Doyle all set a host of pbs especially in the 25m events.  Swimming the 100m Individual Medley (IM) for the first time Gill set a time of 2:08.23 with Stephens achieving a 13 sec improvement with his time of 2:15.22.  Ben Clarke swam the 100m IM in 1:47.11 whilst Sharratt improved to 1:59.54.

Gearey and Doyle achieved pbs in all their swims as too did Budd and Vizard whilst Johnson only missed out on one of his events as did Betteridge.

For the girls Heather Turner; Mackenzie Christys; Megan Reeves; Susie Fowler and Daisy Tolley set pb's in all their races. Only missing out on one event without a pb were Grace Gregory; Carlotte Downey; Charlotte and Megan Bradley; Mollie Bracewell; Megan Wright; Emily Patterson; Hannah Simister; Heather Titterton and Maisy Robertson.

Having only started in the club two months ago Christys also proved her talent to next year's team selectors with her first ever 100m IM with a superb time of 2:01.13, whilst Louise Hird swam a pb with 1:56.00 in the same event followed by Reeves with 2:05.92.

Mention should also be made of both the Bradley sisters with spectacular 20 secs improvements in many of their 50m races.

For the County and performance squads where pbs are harder to achieve with many of them racing elsewhere at Open Meets there were a staggering 130 pbs.  Junior Club Captain showed the boys the way in achieving pb in all his events joined with this distinction by Alex Round; Drew Jones; Angus Evans; Jake Spencer and James Gribble.  With pbs in all but one event were Xander Jaques; Alex Griffin; Toby Aliband; Adam Palin and Michael Evens.

Sykes' swim of 2:48.21 and Gribble's 2:50.98 in the 200m IM are worthy of special mention as indeed were their 400m freestyle times.  Indeed Spencer's 12 sec improvement over his previous best with 3:17.74 in the 200m Free was also a remarkable achievement and proved to Head Coach Tom Naughton they had all approached the trials in the correct manner and gave of their best.

The older girls proved they were not to be left behind with Alison Seward and Laura Snape  putting in a great performances in the 200m free finishing in 2:56.28 and 3:14.88 respectively.  Megan Tolley's first time 3:22.93 in the same event is also worthy of note.

Ella Spencer was one of five girls breaking pbs in every event again with some great performances.  Tessa Carr recorded pbs in all her events and swimming the 400m free for the first time finished in 6:27.47 whilst great performances in the 100m and 200m IMs with 1:34 and 3.26.512 are worthy of mention.  Lily Weston and Danielle Whitehill were the other girls to have 100% performances with 1:42.08 and 1:42.63 in the 100m IM being their best performances of the series.

Also performing to her very best was the club's Sydney Olympic cyclist and more recently World Silver Medallist in the ITU World Duathlon Championships was Triathlete Ceris Styler recording 3:.05.18 in the 200m breaststroke; 3:09.08 in the 200m back; 2:43.17 in the 200m free; 5:44.94 for 400m free and 1:22.03 and 2:59.63 for the 100m and 200m IM respectively.

Ashely Gribble and Katie Caldicott swam pbs in all but one event with Gribble's time of  3:00.85 for her 200m IM being her star performance of the time trials whilst Fran Dobell; Katie Sharratt; Lizzie Vizard; Tazmin Pugh; Rhiannon Cordiner and Katie Smith set pbs in a dozen events.
