Pershore Swimming Club in first Diddy Gala.
When rookie members of Pershore Swimming Club travelled to Droitwich to take part in their first Diddy Gala they covered themselves with glory and came back with 43 personal bests (pb's) between them with the boys pipping the girls once again.
The club got off to a great start with 1st place finishes from their young but experienced duo of Tazmin Pugh and Joseph Doyle in the 10/u 50m free. 9 year old Tazmin went on to record further 1st place finishes swimming up an age group in the 10/u division and 3rd place swimming with the 11yr olds in the 50m fly, plus a 2nd place in the 10/u boys 50m back. Tyler McClean recorded 1st & 2nd place finishes with pb's in the 25m breast 22.22 & 25m free & pb on the lead off leg in the 4 x 1 length 9 yr old boys race with 18.61. Drew Jones continued with 1st place finishes for the club with 50.28 in the 50m breast.
For the 4 x 1L girls 11/u Medley Relay team Ella Spencer swam a pb on the lead off backstroke leg with 21.82 with Lizzie Vizard gaining a pb on the anchor freestyle leg with 18.84. Ella went on later in the evening to record another pb in the freestyle relay with 17.91. All four boys in the 11/u 4 x 1L Medley Relay swam pb's with Joseph Doyle 20.01 on the back and later in the evening 42.03 in the 50m back, Michael Evans 25.06 in the breast, Adam Palin 20.60 on the fly with a pb in the freestyle relay later on of 20.5 and 51.47 in the 50m fly, with Jake Spencer on the final free of the Medley a pb 20.81. Also in the individual fly 7 year old Simon Sweatman, star of the Worcester Club Champs in November swam a pb of 26.33 in the 9/u group following this with 20.11 swimming the lead off leg in the 8 x 1L freestyle Relay.
In the individual 50m backstroke event Rhiannon Cordiner swam pb's in the 50m free 44.56 improving on this in the club's time trials on the following day by an incredible 9 secs and later on in the gala evening swimming 18.26 in the 25m free whilst Indi Creed-Miles recorded a new pb of 58.97 in the 50m breast and later with 30.34 in her breaststroke leg of the girls 10/u 4x 1L Medley Relay with 18.92 in the 25m free. Louise Hird set a pb on the lead off backstroke leg with 26.48. For the rookie 9yr 4 x 1L Medley Relay team of Jasmin Taite (25.32), Louise Hird (32.29), and Beth Snape (31.17) the first three swam pb's with Mia Sutton just outside on 29.00 for her freestyle. Later on Jasmin Taite swam another pb of 21.68 in the 25m free. For the 9yr 4 x 1L Medley Boys swimming in their first gala Alfie Simpson recorded his pb on the final free leg with 23.09.
46.54 from Katie Sharratt in the 12/u girls 50m fly continued the evenings great individual performances. Lizzie Vizard swam a pb in the 11/u 50m back with 43.47 whilst Michael Evans recorded 45.33. Callum Sanderson set pb's in the free leg of the 10/u Medley elay with 19.07 and bettered this later with 19.04 in the free style relay. Tessa Carr was not to be outdone swimming several pb's with 17.81 for 25m free beating her earlier pb in the free relay of 18.00. Harry Sykes swam several pb's with 15.56 in the free relay leg, 21.06 in the breaststroke leg of the boys 12/u Medley Relay.
