85 Personal Bests at Club Champs

Over the last week Pershore Swimming Club staged their club championships and with members swimming 85 personal bests proved to be the most successful in recent years.

For the Seniors Carla and Tom Nicholls swam eleven pb's between them with Ben Carr swimming a fine 50m breast stroke in 35.69sec. Katie Smith showing her full attendance over recent months has paid off with 4 pb's in 50m free; 100 Individual Medley (IM); 50m breast and 100m free. Eleanor Hennerley from Peopleton and also Emily Crisp excelled with Eleanor swimming a fine 100m free with 1min 17.34 sec and 45.66 in the 50m breast.

For the 14 year old boys James Gribble recorded seven pb's with an excellent 1.32.40 for the 100 IM. Superb performances also came from Xander Jacques who attends Simon de Montfort School with a 1.31.31 in the 100 IM, 50m back 41.95 and 100m breast 1.38.58.

Holly, Angus and Drew Jones from Eckington all swam well clocking up sixteen pb's between them. Another family doing well were Kate Angus and Michael Evans from Norton near Worcester with thirteen pb's.

Amongst the promising junior ranks yet more pb's were recorded with Rhiannon Cordiner having an exciting finish to her race recording an excellent pb in the 50m back with a time of 51.51. Ashley Gribble took all the titles in the eleven year old division with her 50m freestyle being 34sec standing out. Also attending Drakes Broughton Middle School is Frances Turner who has just risen into the 12 year ranks and recorded good swims in the 200 IM with 3.12.66 and more pb's in the 100m free of 1.17.53 and 50m Breast 45.69 and 100m back 1.30.70.

More close finishes came in the boys races with Joseph Doyle coming out on top in the 50m free, 100 IM, and 50m back but was piped to the finishing line in the 50m fly by Jack Betteridge the pair recording ten pb's between them.

For the nine year olds Tazmin Pugh and Alison Seward enjoyed some close competition the most exciting being in the 50m Back stroke with Tazmin setting 44.13 against Alison's 44.97 with both swimmers being the only ones swimming in all ten events each, Tazmin recorded the quickest times in all, though the heavy schedule for two young girls made it difficult to record many pb's.

For the 8 year old rookies Tyler McClean and Callum Sanderson stood out for the boys with Beth Snape and Jasmin Taite enjoying close tussles with Beth getting the better in the 50m Breast with 1.17.98 and Jasmin coming out on top in the 25m free with 27.11.
