Pershore Swimming Club sent a team of
seven swimmers to compete at the Level 2 Nuneaton Open Meet, coming away with
five medals against strong opposition which included Midland district and
National swimmers.
Charlotte Downey (10) grabbed two
bronze medals in the girls 9/10 year old age group as well as producing six
personal best times across the weekend. Downey came third in the 400m freestyle in 5.58.67 (county qualifying
time) and produced a fantastic new pb of 6.50.32 to also take third in the
400IM can claim another County Qualifying Time. Downey also produced pbs in the 200 breast (3.40.68), the 100m back
(1.28.48), the 200m free (2.56.21) and the 200m back (3.05.97).
Simon Sweatman (11) won three bronze
medals in the boys 11/12 year old age group, again producing a string of
personal bests. Sweatman fought hard to
grab bronze in the 200m fly, producing a new pb of 2.56.77 and the first time
under three minutes at this distance. He
then added two more bronze medals, producing pbs in the 100m freestyle in
1.04.88 and 5.03.34 in the 400m freestyle. Sweatman also swam well in the 200m IM, swimming to a new pb of 2.43.62.
Isobel Cumming (11) showed good form in
the girls 11/12 year old age group, with three new personal best times. CummingÆs best performance across the weekend
came in the 100m fly, when she produced a new pb of 1.30.41. She also produced pbs and county qualifying
times in the 100m backstroke (1.26.86) and the 200m back (3.04.29) for a good
weekendÆs swimming.
Chris Vizard (11) was another Pershore
swimmer in excellent form, producing three personal bests and three county
times for 2014. Vizard produced pbs and
CQTs in the 100m free (1.10.72), the 200m IM (2.56.15) and the 400m free
(5.29.53).
Cameron Leach (9) continued to show
improvement, knocking chunks off his previous times in the 20OIM and 400m
free. Leach produced 3.38.30 in the
200IM and 6.35.27 in the 400m free.
Harry Sykes (15) grabbed another county
time for 2014 in the 200m breast stroke, producing a superb 2.44.49 seconds and
Naomi Marsden (11) produced another pb in the 200m backstroke in 2.47.13.
Ian Cumming, Pershore coach said: "We had some very impressive swims against

IM, ChrisÆ 100m free and IsobelÆs 100m fly were all very impressive swims and
Simon continues to show very strong form in his age group. It was also great to see Naomi, Harry and
Cameron all coming away with PBs.ö
