Pershore's Swimmers make Nationals.

Several of Pershore Swimming Club's youngsters recently represented their school in the Midland's ISA Swimming Championships and did both club and school proud.

Year 4 pupil Ollie Gill came 2nd in each of his heats swimming one length at Walsall's 33m size pool in the Backstroke and Freestyle continuing to improve beyond all recognition from joining the swim club a year ago.  Although gill swam personal bests only the fastest in each event would be asked to represent the Midlands in the National ISA Championships in Coventry's Olympic size 50m pool on Saturday 20th November.

It was a triumphant story for Bowbrook House School's National Champions from 2009  Harry Sykes (year 8) Champion last year and Tazmin Pugh (year 6) Champion the previous two years.   Harry had swum in the Senior Midlands Championships a few weeks earlier and had stormed to a convincing win in the Breaststroke in a time of  23.87 and even though the Freestyle had ended in a fingertip finish, Sykes was given the decision in a great pb of 19.30.  This means Sykes will be representing the Midlands in the both the Free and Breast events and also the 4 x 1 200m Freestyle Relay and 4 x 1 200m Medley races.

Tazmin Pugh continues to reign supreme at the Midlands Championships winning the Individual Backstroke event comfortably in an all time best for year 6 girls in 23.37 and then repeated this in the Butterfly amidst stiffer opposition in again a Championship record of 21.79.   Like Harry, Tazmin will now go forward to represent the Midlands in the National ISA Championships in the Backstroke and Fly events and also the 200m Freestyle and Medley relays.    It was also announced at the Midland Champs that Pugh will be awarded the top girl trophy 'The Midland's Most Promising Year 6 Girls Swimmer' at the National event for the third year running, already continuing the success Bowbrook School have had with their young athletes in the past few years.   They will be joined at Coventry by another Bowbrook's student Liam Tustin swimming the Breaststroke.          .

Sykes and Pugh were both in the winning Midland relay teams in 2009 and will be hoping to repeat this success yet again as well as defending their Individual National titles.
