Pershore Swimmers win a host of medals.

Last Sunday twenty four swimmers from Pershore Swimming club competed in the annual Stourbridge 'B' Gala at Wolverhampton Baths and covered themselves in glory, breaking an unprecedented 72 of their own 77 personal bests (pb) and winning 18 placing medals and trophies.

Setting all five pb's from their five swims were Makenzie Christys (age 10) and Angus Jones (13).  Christys also took 7th place in the 50m fly whilst Jones (13) took 6th place in four events being the 50m free, 50m back, 100m Individual Medley (IM) and then finally recording a staggering 16 secs improvement in the 50m breast.   Again 100% success this time from four swims were Beth Snape (10), Hannah Simister (10), Megan Tolley (13), Jack Betteridge (11) and finally Ashley Gribble (13) taking 4th place in the 50m free and fly events.

Club members competing in three swims and setting new pb's in all of them were Daisy Tolley (9), Louise Hird (11), Laura Snape (12) and taking 4th place in the 50m breast and a superb 7sec improvement in the 100m IM.  Also achieving 100% improvement in their three swims were Elizabeth Vizard (12), Josh Sharratt (9) had superb swims throughout the day winning two of the coveted crystal trophies in the 50m back and 50m free and actually going quicker than the eventual winner but having a speeding certificate awarded to him instead for being breaking the qualifying entry time.

From their two swims Jake Spencer broke both pbs and took 8th place in the 50m fly, Katie Sharratt, Hannah Kenwright winning 8th place in the 50m breast, Megan Wright and Susie Fowler. Breaking four pb's from the five swims were Maisy Robertson (9), and Benjamin Clarke (11) with his younger brother William Clarke (9) breaking two pb's out of three swims.  Amy Weston had a mixed day taking a great 1st place crystal trophy in the 50m back setting a pb in the 50m free but with an incorrect stroke meant she lost out in the 50m fly and 100m IM.
