Pershore Swimmers in Midland Swimming Championships.

Four members of Pershore Swimming Club and attending Bowbrook House School in Peopleton were recently in action in the Midland Swimming Championships staged at the 33m Walsall Gala Baths. Fourteen schools were taking part Bowbrook House being one of the smallest in number. Star of the meet was Tetrathlete Harry Sykes from Grafton Flyford swimming in the Butterfly and Breaststroke events.

Eleven year old Sykes a year 7 pupil won the 33m breaststroke comfortably in a time of 29.00 secs and now looks forward to representing the Midland Seniors at the National ISA Championships at Coventry's 50m Olympic length pool on 14th November. With Sykes gaining 2nd place in the butterfly in a time of 21.82 he will also be representing the Midlands in the 4 x 1 medley relay team together with the 4 x 50m freestyle team with a fine time recorded in the final swim off event of the day.

Eleanor Hennerley 4th in the 33m free, Alex Round 3rd in the 33m breast and Toby Alliband 3rd in the 33m back in a time of 30.82 and Amber Griffiths who started her swimming with Pershore Swimming club but now noted for her athletic prowess after winning medals at the National ISA Athletics Championships earlier in the year also recorded a 3rd place with all of the pupils swimming personal bests.
