Tazmin called up for County

Its has been another great month for Pershore Swimming Club's ten year old Tazmin Pugh who was called up to represent the county in a Three-Way Inter-County match against Staffordshire and Gloucestershire. After being presented with her county colours in the form of county badge, hat and shirt she was soon in action together with another local swimmer eleven year old Chloe Golding of Evesham club both being the only representatives from each of their clubs.

In the 50m backstroke Pugh not only won the ten year old group but also one of the 11 yr olds from Staffordshire with a personal best of 36.62 whilst Chloe came out top for the 11 yr olds with 34.68. This has put Pugh back on top of the UK end of year rankings for the 50m back and also leaves her in the top five in Britain and first in the Region in fourteen other  events.

In the three team relays Pugh was involved in she also produced her best and handed over a lead in each case with two wins and maximum points recorded for the County. In the overall match the winning County had to be decided from the last race with Staffordshire finishing just 2pts ahead on 322 whilst Worcestershire had 320 and Gloucestershire 281.

Pugh was also presented with Head Coach Tom Naughton's swimmer of the month trophy rounding off her long season on a high. After a month of low intensity training Pershore club will quickly be returning to the fray in their Junior League final match in Wolverhampton on September 11th.  They would like to extend an invitation to local dignitaries and interested members of the local community to support the club as indeed have their new team kit sponsors Taylor-Cook and Snape construction companies.

The club would like to extend their congratulations to inspirational local swimmer Cameron Brodie now at Kelly College but who started at Evesham in making the Scottish Team for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
