Pershore's Rookies visit Worcester.

 

Pershore Swimming Club's under nine swimmers accepted an invite from Worcester S.C. to join them in their own championships for time only and accredited themselves extremely well.

 

Seven year old Charlotte Downey finished top in her age group in all her races and achieved a personal best (pb) in the 25m backstroke with 24.78. Maisy Robertson was also top in her eight year old age division with some spectacular new pbs in the 25m freestyle with 19.78; a massive 5 sec pb of 22.53 in the 25m back followed by a six sec pb in the butterfly and yet another in the 25m breaststroke 26.94.  Susie Fowler set a new pb in the back and a five second pb in the 25 breaststroke with 35.44.

 

For the boys William Gearey swam to a pb in the 25m back with 24.07 and finished top in all his seven year old age group races.  Joshua Sharratt (aged 9) was also 1st in three of his races whilst Christopher Vizard was 2nd in the backstroke 3rd in the freestyle finishing 5th and 6th in the breast and fly. Ollie Gill's best position was 3rd in the fly and 4th in all his other races.

 

Meanwhile also on the the evening of the third session of Worcester S.C. Champs Pershore's more experienced juniors were also in action. Katie Sharratt (12) set pb's in the 100m Individual Medley (IM) with 1.31.37and 400m Free with 6.00.15. Alison Seward also competed in the 100m IM and improved on her best time with 1.28.50.

 

In the 400m free the two Jones brothers competed with the elder Angus finishing with a pb on 5.37.20 and Drew also with a pb with 5.40.52. Joseph Doyle recorded pb's with 1.31.03 in the 100m IM and 5.57.14 in the 400m free. Jack Betteridge (10) competed in both the third and fourth session over the weekendand maintained his recent form with some plucky swims.   Also in the fourth session of the champs the Pershore youngsters were joined by Harry Sykes (12); and Tazmin Pugh (10) fresh from their victorious day at Coventry and also Tyler Mclean (10).

 

In the first event the 200m IM Alison Seward swam to a stunning 33 second new pb with 3.03.23 followed by club mate Elizabeth Vizard also a new 15 sec pb with 3.10.20.  In the same event Pugh swam excellently recording a fine 2.48.50.    For the boys Mclean recorded 3.12.26 in the 200m IM; 38.00 in the 50m back and 1.37.00 in the 100m breast.   Sykes set a great new pb in the 200m IM with 2.46.50; 36.66 in 50m back and 1.26.00 in the 100m breast.   Joseph Doyle continued his good run of form with 3.11.32 in the 200m IM and 39.98 in the 50m back

 

In the 50 back Vizard swam a pb with 39.64 with Pugh another great time of 36.50, both finishing with 1.41.66 and 1.41.97 respectively in the 100m breaststroke.
